Walkathon Recap

April 28, 2014
By KCS Staff
Thank you for supporting our 2014 scholarship walkathon!

Students got their day’s exercise as they participated in the 34th annual Kyle-Lenn-Joey Walkathon to help raise money for the Scholarship Fund. Thanks to the students’ efforts and your generosity, we raised over $20,300 today!

Prior to the walk, Pastor Jerry Hubbard addressed the entire school in chapel. His message, drawing from I Corinthians 9:24, challenged students to be victorious today’s event (and in life) by aiming high, being ready, and finishing well. He also spoke a word of encouragement to finish the school year strong, both academically and spiritually.

Bright, safety green Walkathon shirts colored the campus, as 138 students earned shirts by raising at least $80. Preschoolers and Kindergartners made their way around the basketball court and playgrounds while Grades 1 to 10 had a longer route around the block. Though the walk/run can be tiring, students enjoyed the time with friends and the larger KCS ‘ohana. Many tried to beat their personal best (lap totals) from previous years.

Reflecting on the day, K2 teacher Lynn Yokomizo said, "It was an awesome day, and I’m sure the Lord was blessed. This money that we get from our pledges will help so many families... I'm sure the three boys, who are in heaven, are just smiling down at us."
