Sharing God's Love in the Philippines

There was no shortage of adventures for this year’s Mission Trip team!  Despite an unexpected, extended stay in Guam due to cancelled flights, the long trip home for the team didn’t tarnish the amazing experiences they had in the Philippines in October.  This morning in chapel, freshmen Elise Kuwaye, Tenaya Richardson, Emily Kuwaye, Caitlin Wong, and Ka’ihi Seria recalled their highlights from the trip.

Gratitude and appreciation for some of the seemingly “small” things in life was a theme echoed throughout the sharing time.  From visiting a riverside community lined with shacks with no electricity, to walking among those living in the Payatas dump, students saw beyond these humbling circumstances and were moved to share God’s love.  They experienced how a simple act of kindness could bring joy to those they met.

Building relationships with the people of the Philippines was another highlight.  The team enjoyed connecting with students at International Christian Academy and were touched by the amazing generosity demonstrated by their host families.  Spending time at an orphanage for boys and girls was also impactful, as the team worshipped and interacted with the children.

Thanks to chapel offering funds, the team purchased a special meal and new slippers for the children at the orphanage.  The clothing collected prior to the trip was given to children in Cabuco.  The team thanks the KCS ‘ohana for their partnership and prayers -- they made all the difference!
