Creativity At Its Best

This morning, Jason Gradney and Maria Carvalho from Farmers Insurance presented kindergarten teacher Mrs. Kaji with a check for $2,250.  Mrs. Kaji submitted a proposal, “Creativity At Its Best,” to Farmers Insurance’s “Thank America’s Teachers,” a national grant program.  Proposals from across the country were available for voting via Facebook throughout the month of October.  Although she didn’t win the $2,500 award, she received a donation from Farmer’s Hawaii, made possible by AdoptAClassroom.org.

As described in her proposal, Mrs. Kaji’s vision is to have outdoor areas for exploratory and creative play for students.  She hopes to use the grant money to purchase water and sand tables as well as equipment for outdoor art centers.  She says, “Children need to have experiences outside of the classroom in order to learn and grow.”  KCS applauds Mrs. Kaji, and thanks Mr. Gradney and the team from Farmers Hawaii for their heart and support of education!
