2nd Annual Poetry Out Loud Contest

January 15, 2016
By KCS Staff

Four freshmen competed in this year’s school-level Poetry Out Loud contest.  The competition is part of a national program that encourages high school students to learn about poetry through memorization, performance, and competition.  Contestants recited their selected poems in two rounds and were judged on performance criteria as well as accuracy.  Congratulations to school winner Emily Kuwaye!  She recited Shelley’s “England in 1819” and Frost’s “The Road Not Taken.”  Emily advances to the state finals at Tenney Theatre on February 21.
