Warm. Loving. Joyful. An unforgettable smile. A beautiful voice. These are just a few of the characteristics that make Mrs. Sara Silsby so special to the fabric of KCS.  At the conclusion of the school year, she will retire after working with preschoolers for 35 years.  As a teacher’s aide, she has served faithfully with five different teaching partners: Dee Arnold, Mei-Ling Spearing, Nadine (Lee) Marchessault, Merle (Nishikawa) Sakaguchi, and Vera Kadomoto.  Multiple generations and hundreds of students began their school careers under Mrs. Silsby’s loving care and instruction.

When reflecting on her early years at KCS, Mrs. Silsby recalls the Lord’s hand in the circumstances surrounding her hiring by Principal Mrs. McKenzie.  Through the ups and downs during her time here, she has always tried teach the children to be kind to one another as well as instill a sense of value that comes from being created and loved by God.

Mrs. Silsby will miss working with the kids, especially on art projects!  During this next season of her life, her main priority is to care for her husband, John.  She also hopes to get involved in the KCC Seniors Ministry and join a singing group.
