Student Council presents gifts to local organizations

December 18, 2017
By KCS Staff

Mahalo to the KCS 'ohana for the generous donations to the Student Council's annual Christmas Gift Collection drive! A wonderful assortment of toys, games, and books were collected in December in support of four local organizations.

On December 14, Student Council Officers had the opportunity to present the gifts and meet with Tara Humphreys of Hawaii Children's Cancer Foundation and Cheryl Tamura of HUGS.  Tara and Cheryl shared the mission of their respective nonprofits, which strive to provide financial support and services for Hawaii's seriously ill children.  The next day, Joe Block and Amanda Price accepted the donations on behalf of Hawaii Pacific Health Foundation.  These items will be added to the Child Life Services' Santa's Workshop and Playroom as well as being used throughout the year to bring smiles to patients at Kapiolani Medical Center. Senior Yuzuha Shibata, a volunteer for Queen's Medical Center, will deliver the donated books to their Reading Room.

Officers enjoyed meeting these representatives and connecting a face with the nonprofit organizations that the Student Council partners with each year.
