Three KCS students place in ACSI Spelling Bee

March 09, 2018
By KCS Staff

Bruxism. Intermezzo. Grandiloquent. These were the last three words students were asked to spell in the final rounds of the ACSI District Spelling Bee. KCS hosted the annual event, as 82 students from five Christian schools tested their spelling knowledge on Saturday, March 3.

Twenty-five KCS students participated in the Bee, with many placing in their respective grade level competitions. Comprised of the top four spellers from grades 5-8, the Final Spell-Off featured seven KCS students. Jase Konishi (Gr. 5A), Koa Hardy (Gr. 8B), and Daniel Matsunaka (Gr. 8A) lasted through multiple rounds and finished 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, respectively. They demonstrated composure and an impressive array of spelling skills!

Special thanks to Chairperson Mrs. Spearing, Coordinator Mrs. Holm, and the team of KCS teachers and staff who volunteered to make this year's event a huge success!
