Congratulations to junior Paige Yuen! Her essay earned 1st place for her grade level division in the 9th annual Clarence T.C. Ching Foundation “Inspired in Hawaii” Essay, Poster, Digital Media Poster and Video Contest. Paige received a cash prize of $200, as she and high school literature teacher Mrs. Fong were recognized during an awards program on Tuesday evening.

The contest encourages students to “dream big and make Hawaii a better place” by identifying a significant problem in our islands and proposing a creative solution. Paige's articulate, well-researched essay proposes the creation of temporary homes with the necessary resources to aid girls escaping the horrors of sex trafficking in Hawaii. We applaud her effort to tackle this difficult issue and advocate for survivors.

Celebrating the 100th day of the school year!

"One hundred" was the theme of the day, as several elementary classes celebrated the 100th day of the school year! Kindergarteners practiced their counting skills by placing 10 items of 10 on counting mats and creating their very own snack mix of 100 items. Other fun activities incorporated different subjects, as 2nd graders enjoyed various "100 second" challenges that utilized their math, language arts, and science skills. What a festive way to commemorate this
milestone in the school year!
