Preschool

Students and Staff

We are fortunate to have a professional, caring preschool staff, a school’s greatest assest. Our loyal preschool staff has over 60 combined years of experience working with the youngest students in our ‘ohana.

Our preschool program offers classes for children ages 3 and 4. Our classroom staff-student ratio is 1:10 for younger 3 year olds, 1:11 for older 3 year olds/younger 4 year olds, and 1:12 for older 4 year olds. Our preschool program also includes specialists in music and computer education.

Educational Program

Our program provides students with a strong foundation for kindergarten. A balance of work and play cultivates growth academically and socially. Structured academic work periods are interwoven with recess or enrichment activities. A daily rest period occurs in the afternoon. Morning devotions, Bible lessons, and weekly chapels underscore our mission as a Christian school. Excursions within the Kaimuki neighborhood and beyond are planned throughout the school year.

3 year olds

An enriching and nurturing environment develops the whole child in all areas of learning. Children grow academically, spiritually, and socially through play, art, music, stories, and hands-on activities. Letters, numbers, colors, and shapes are introduced.

4 year olds

All skills introduced in the previous year are strengthened, as children develop their independence in the classroom. In preparation for kindergarten, math and reading readiness skills are emphasized. Students build upon letter recognition skills to learn phonics and writing through the Orton-Gillingham method.
